A Decade Of Reliability
Is there really such thing as a classic flashlight? Flashlight technology & design are constantly improving. But as the saying goes, “if it isn’t broke don’t fix it.”
Streamlight has really taken that advice to heart with the Stylus Pro. They’ve kept the same slim penlight shape & functionality while constantly improving brightness & run times. All combined to make one of the most reliable,
Old vs New
Over a decade ago the original Stylus Pro started as a
Shortly after came the 48 lumen, 6.5 hour version. Then the 65 lumen, 6.5 hours version.
Fast forward to their current model which is putting out a respectable 100 lumens with an 8 hour run time! All on two AAA batteries. It’s now able to hold its own against most two AA battery powered flashlights.

Reliability By Design
Many flashlight manufacturers are moving to side buttons which can’t be serviced by the end user. However, Streamlight has decided to keep the old school tail button. This makes troubleshooting much easier when your flashlight isn’t working properly. Plus you can replace the rubber boot as it wears. Or even replace the entire tail switch assembly.
Philosophy Of Use
The philosophy of use has remained largely the same. This is still a great backup or medical use flashlight. The slim design allows it to fit into shirt sleeve pen slots, tucked into coveralls, notebook covers, pouches, etc. Pretty much anywhere you can tuck a pen.
With the current C4 LED technology this light now also makes an excellent main EDC flashlight. Being able to effectively light up large areas and run for almost an entire shift.
Overall the Stylus Pro is still one of the best penlights on the market. With a price point that is still under $20 on Amazon. Even after a decade.
